Can we seal silicone liquids with silicone rubber seals? Does alcohol corrode silicone rubber seals? Silicone rubber seals are used to seal alcohol, and they do not react with each other.
Silicone rubber seals are introduced as a highly active adsorbent. Silica gel is a highly active adsorption material, usually containing sodium silicate and sulfuric acid. It is made through a series of post-treatment processes such as aging and acid foam. Silica gel is an amorphous substance, insoluble in water and any solvents, non-toxic and odorless, chemically stable, and does not react with any substance other than strong bases and hydrofluoric acid. Alcohol is a colorless, transparent, volatile, flammable and non-conductive liquid. When the alcohol concentration is 70%, it has a strong killing effect on bacteria. Therefore, for some medical FDA-approved silicone rubber seals, they are generally sterilized and stored under high temperature with alcohol or normal saline.
It can be seen that alcohol will not corrode the silicone rubber seal and will not cause any damage to the silicone rubber seal.
